Collection: Robert Spannring

Robert Spannring is a Montanan native and fine artist with over 40 years of experience. Early in his career, he worked as an illustrator and watercolorist, and apprenticed with Russell Chatham. From 1987 to 1992, he served as Artist in Residence at the Lake Hotel, creating artwork still on display in Yellowstone National Park.

Robert has completed illustration projects for organizations including the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, Museum of the Rockies, and Montana Dept. of Parks and Wildlife. He developed DOWNSTREAM, a multi-media museum exhibit exploring humanity’s connection to land and rivers, displayed in multiple Montana venues. Since 2003, he has focused on oil and mixed-media paintings of Montana and Yellowstone landscapes, studying under Scott Christensen, Kim English, and Tu Xiang.
