Collection: Hanson, Meghan

Meghan Hanson is an architect & artist creating within the intermountain west and sharing time between the Bitterroot Valley of Montana & Teton Valley Idaho.  After attending college in Bozeman she moved to the Teton Valleys of both Wyoming and Idaho to work as an architect and an illustrator. Now living back in Montana, she creates her art with paint, pencil and reclaimed materials. She believes that taking time to experience a place through creating art helps her to know the place, as well as document it in a unique way to remember and share with others.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I create art that helps us to reflect on our place in the natural world.  Exploring how we as humans place ourselves within the greater world facilitates conversation about conservation and a consciousness of how humanity impacts the natural world.  My art draws inspiration (and media) from both the natural world and the man-made.  Often it is the built forms that help us see and focus on the wild world around us.  Through the juxtaposition of the natural and the made, I reflect on how we can exist and heal more wholistically within our environment.
